SAG Bonus Episode: Star Wars Spoilercast

Nothing but STAAAAAAR WAAAARS

Show Notes

In this very special episode of SAG the boys delve deep into their feelings about the new Star Wars movie "Rise of Skywalker". This is audio that was removed from episode 288 because we felt that is was a little to spoilery. We hope you enjoy it and if you are looking for more Star Wars stuff, check out the full run of reviews that Kris did leading up to the release of the movie in his collection of articles called "Star Wars Revisited"

Ep.289 – SAG Episode 289: Old Man Barbara

Games of the Decade

Show Notes

What’s better than a Golden Caveman? A Platinum Caveman! Dan and Kris have combed through every single game release of the past ten years and determined what their favorite games of the decade were. Did Dan give God of War the greatest honor available? Did Kris blindly choose Kid Icarus Uprising instead of putting actual thought into it? Did Portal 2 beat everything else? In the top half of the show, Dan and Kris discussed a handful of news stories, including big delays from Square, a fancy new Doom trailer, and some frankly retrospectively hilarious Smash Bros DLC discussions. And as always, a healthy round of what they’ve been playing.

New decade, new award show

Show Notes

Dan and Kris are back from break and ready to kick off the New Year with a brand new Game of the Year award show: The Golden Caveman Awards. (Because the JGLD joke finally got old). The guys count down their top 5 games of 2019, culminating in their choices for which ones get the coveted Golden Caveman. In the top half of the show, Dan actually found time over the break to play games. Lots of them! Including Death Stranding! Kris, on the other hand, didn’t get to play a ton, but he did finish Katana Zero, and get Ring Fit Adventure. They also both saw Star Wars, and talked about it. A lot.

Holiday gift guide 2019

Show Notes

The holiday shopping season has begun! This week, Dan and Kris put together their holiday shopping guide for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and beyond, including the current lineup of Flash Carts at stoneagegamer.com. Kris professes his love for Terra Onion’s stuff, Dan professes his love of cheap PS4 games, and they both lament the way Nintendo Switch games never seem to get any cheaper. At the top of the show, Dan didn’t play any games last week, so he talks about all the movies he watched, and his theory on how Joker should be pronounced. Meanwhile, Kris spent more time with the surprisingly impressive Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, gives his first impressions of Katana Zero, and gets caught in the hype for the new Super Mario Maker 2 DLC, the fresh batch of Nintendo Switch Online titles, and more!

Ep.282 – SAG Episode 282: I Think it was Iguana

Show Notes

It’s Black Friday! It’s also the last Friday of the month, meaning it’s time for the November 10 20 30, where Dan and Kris talk about notable game releases from 10, 20, and 30 years ago this month. November 2009 brought with it some heavy hitters like Assassin’s Creed 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and November 1999 was no slouch either with Cool Boarders 4, Donkey Kong 64, and the very first NBA 2K. November 1989 though, well, Tetris showed up on NES, so that’s something! At the top of the show, Dan and Kris compared notes about preparing for Thanksgiving, including an everlasting love of all things bread. Plus, Kris is done with Bloodstained, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Deal, Bubsy eBay woes, and more!

Ep.281 – SAG Episode 281: Bubsy is Inevitable

Unnecessarily in-depth Bubsy talk

Show Notes

Dan and Kris bring their month of thankfulness to a close with Kris’s pick of an often overlooked SNES composer and a rather unexpected choice from Dan. Kris chose to profess his thankfulness for Japanese composer Soyo Oka, the woman behind the music in the original Pilot Wings, Super Mario Kart, Sim City, and Super Mario All-Stars for Super NES. As for Dan’s pick, well, you’ll have to listen to find out. At the top of the show, Dan postulates about what sort of crossover would get Kris to finally play PAD. Has he cracked the code? Then, Kris spent a whole lot more time with Bloodstained, took a trip into the weird world of Old School Musical, Super Mario Maker 2 made a return to near-daily play, and finally, Kris spends some quality time with his favorite bobcat, Bubsy. What did he think of his latest adventure from the creators of the Runner series? Find out now!
